Colombian visual art draws on roughly 3,500 years of artistic tradition, spanning pre-Columbian metalwork such as Quimbaya gold craftsmanship, Spanish colonial Baroque devotional painting, and the twentieth-century "lyrical americanism" associated with painter Alejandro Obregón. Fernando Botero, known for his distinctively rounded, exaggerated figures, became the country's most internationally recognized painter and sculptor. Colombian literature reflects the coexistence of Spanish, African, and Indigenous heritages across a geographically diverse country; novelist Gabriel García Márquez received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1982, a recognition many Colombians regard as affirming a national literary tradition rooted in the style later termed magical realism.

Bogotá hosts the International Art Fair of Bogotá (ArtBO), one of the region's leading contemporary art fairs, and the city's museums and galleries showcase both historical and contemporary Colombian artists, including Alejandro Obregón, David Manzur, Enrique Grau, and Omar Rayo alongside Botero. Colombian folklore carries strong Spanish influence intertwined with Indigenous and African traditions, expressed through regional music, dance, and craft forms found throughout the country's diverse geography.

Colombia's broadcast media is dominated by two privately owned national networks, Caracol Televisión and Canal RCN, which together draw roughly 80 percent of the national television audience and have built a reputation for producing telenovelas exported throughout Latin America and beyond. Three public channels operate alongside the private networks, along with regional and local broadcasters. Around 30 large daily newspapers circulate nationally, and television remains the country's most consumed medium, with Colombian households averaging several hours of daily viewing.
