Suriname: Foreign Relations

Suriname's foreign relations reflect its position as a small, Dutch-speaking state on South America's northern coast, balancing long-standing ties to the Netherlands with active membership in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Organization of American States (OAS). Since independence from the Netherlands in 1975, Suriname has pursued a foreign policy emphasizing regional cooperation, non-interference, and economic diversification.
