Dominica: Economy and Trade

Dominica has one of the smallest economies in the Caribbean, historically dependent on agriculture, particularly banana exports, though diversification has expanded the roles of tourism, especially ecotourism centered on its rainforests and dive sites, and a Citizenship by Investment program that has become a significant revenue source. Services and small-scale manufacturing also contribute modestly to national output.

The country's main trading partners include the United States, other CARICOM member states, and the United Kingdom, with Dominica importing most manufactured goods and fuel while exporting bananas, soap, and other agricultural products. Vulnerability to hurricanes has repeatedly disrupted economic activity, prompting significant reliance on international aid and remittances, alongside government efforts to build climate resilience into infrastructure and economic planning.
