Chile has one of the most stable and open economies in Latin America, historically driven by copper mining, which accounts for a substantial share of export earnings, alongside significant agricultural, forestry, and fishing sectors. Wine production and fruit exports have also become significant contributors to the economy.
Chile maintains an extensive network of free trade agreements, including with the United States, the European Union, and China, and is a founding member of the Pacific Alliance alongside Mexico, Colombia, and Peru, reflecting a long-standing policy of trade openness.
